Purpose
The Kyoto International Dance Workshop Festival (a.k.a. Hot Summer in Kyoto) is organised by Dance and Environnement, a general incorporated association, and has been held continuously as a presentation support project (co-hosted project) since the Kyoto Art Centre was first established, and has a history of more than 20 years. Since 2016, the festival has been held as a jointly organised project. It invites outstanding choreographers, dancers and artists active in Japan and abroad to consider/learn about the environment in which professional dancers can develop, and also provides a place where people of all ages and experience can become familiar with and enjoy dance through a variety of projects.
