25th Anniversary Pre-event：Throwing Spaghetti at Kyoto Art Center

Kyoto Art Center will celebrate the 25th anniversary in April 2025. As a pre-event for the 25th anniversary, workshops and performances are being held from January to March 2025 with Throwing Spaghetti, a group of 11 artists born around 2000, the year Kyoto Art Center was established, who are based in the Kansai region.

Since its opening in 2000, Kyoto Art Center has tried to be a public facility where people with different values and cultural backgrounds can interact with each other. It is true that people with different values gather in this place. However, is there any deeper interaction between people?

Throwing Spaghetti was launched in Kyoto in 2023 as an initiative to build a forum for discussion, and has been working under the group policy of being equal without hierarchy. However, they are faced with fixed roles and thought processes within the group, and difficulties in decision-making and continuity. Nevertheless, they are able to reach a point they did not initially anticipate by persevering in their discussions without giving up along the way. By continuing to discuss things collectively rather than alone, they can create a place to practice what they cannot achieve individually, and have a point of contact that connects to society.

Together with Throwing Spaghetti, Kyoto Art Center will reconsider the coming together of those with different values, and communicating and interacting with each other.

《Shadowing Circle》

The performance will reproduce the past recordings of Kyoto Art Center by shadowing (a method of listening to audio and then immediately following and reciting it).

Closing Event
《25th anniversary festival prelude（tentative）》

《Archive Exhibition》

※The archive exhibition, which was scheduled to begin on February 8, has been delayed one day due to snow and will begin on Sunday, February 9.
